I'm absolutely drained from a wonderful two week trip to Europe. After a day at the Rijksmuseum, four days at the Louvre and three days at the D'Orsay, I'm anxious to get back to work in the studio. A substantial kick in the face from Rembrandt, Titian, Chardin, Millet and Degas will hopefully pay dividends soon.

On a more important note: Happy 70th Birthday to my father! No signs of slowing down either, as he's already produced more paintings this year than ever before. Thanks for the motivation old man...

I just completed a series of paintings that center around a number of my vivid childhood memories. As I recall back on my youth growing up on a rural farm alongside my identical twin brother, Sean, I am rewarded with many stimulating visual flashbacks. By limiting my reference material to only a few childhood snapshots I was able recreate many of these scenes almost exclusively by memory. When transfered onto the canvas these recollections became the dreamlike images you'll now find in the Recent Works gallery in the Childhood section.

Seasons greetings to all! I'm looking forward to a much needed week away from the studio. Pushing some larger canvases lately that are starting to wear me down... I'll be trekking back to the arctic tundra of western NY state to enjoy some nog and some R&R. Hope you can all find some time to do the same.

Also, I just added a few watercolor figure drawings under Recent Works. Happy holidays!

Three new paintings have been added to the Recent Works gallery. These particular pictures are the starting point for my future exploration in narrative painting. Each is a personal commentary fueled from specific social observations I made while living in downtown Portland. Similar works will most likely follow soon.

Back from a fabulous week of plein air painting at Johns Bay on the Maine coastline. A few of the new pieces have been added to the Landscape section of the website. Roughly 3-5 hours were spent on each work. Much thanks to the great John Walker for his generous hospitality.

I apologize for the lack of updates lately and I promise a stern adjustment in my ways. Three months have come and gone quite rapidly and a great deal has changed for me. I've just relocated my studio across the country to the city of Boston, MA. I'm currently residing amidst "the green pastures of Harvard University" here in Cambridge. I'm anxious to see what inspiration I will draw from this unique place. I will indeed miss wonderful Portland, Oregon and the entire left coast greatly, as well as all those I met there. Of course you can all still reach me through my contact page. Talk soon.

To celebrate our nation's independence I decided to add some new figure drawings to the website. Scope them in the Drawing section. Happy 4th...

There's nothing quite like the California coastline, and after a January trip down to SF I decided to finally paint it. I'm just finishing up a few of these pieces, you can find some in the latest batch of updated work.

Well, the site has been completely refurbished and updated thanks to the magnificent bionic man, B.M. Whitla. Thanks for enduring countless hours of grueling labor in front of the '96 Dell just for the sake of my art.

As you can see I have a News section now, so check back often for information on upcoming events and new work...
